Grown from traditional family values, over the past 25 years TMJ has flourished into an innovative and energetic business turning over circa £6.5m. We are enormously proud of the successes bred from our determination to provide an excellent service as well as being a fun and aspiring place to work for our team.
Originally set up as a labour only contractor in the 1990s, the company provided quality joiners to the construction industry in and around Manchester. As demand increased so did our workforce, bringing to us some of our most respected joiners who still work with us today. Working to industry demands we began to offer the supply of materials and over the past 10 years we have forged strong and valued relationships with our suppliers. Our supply chain is vast yet dependable allowing us to offer a huge range of products, competitively and quickly.
Our compact management and supervisory structure ensures that works are closely monitored and controlled and costs remain reasonable, realistic and importantly, competitive. We have confidence that we can facilitate cost savings and improvements to specification. We are hugely excited by innovation and technology, we are always looking to improve our functionality and performance both on site and in our offices. Recently launching a bespoke IT system to streamline and reduce onsite paperwork which will in turn reduce costs and allow us to use our time more effectively elsewhere.
TMJ now operates all over the North West of England and working with some of the UKs top construction contractors and big name clients, we are able to take on packages worth over a million in value.
Our triumph is in our team; we hold immense pride in the people behind our success
The TMJ team has developed incredibly over the last few years, we have fostered some fabulous talents amongst us.
Working closely together has built a high level of respect and comradery and is forever cultivating enthusiasm for various members of our team to take part in personal challenges as well as excelling in their professional roles.
In 2016 so far we have seen the Three Peak Challenge conquered in record time by Dan, Rob and Steve, the Manchester to Blackpool Cycle and the Manchester 100 (mile) endured by Dan and Steve, Laura completing the local Mossley 10km run and Yvette taking part in the Doctor Kershaw’s Hospice Walk. And whilst providing us with some amusing stories and photos to pin on the board, we have managed to start a charity fundraising campaign so that all the blood sweat and tears don’t go unrecognised! Our chosen charity for 2016/2017 is Macmillan Cancer Care; take a glance at our Just Giving page: Team TMJ
Over the past 12 years Dan has revolutionised our services and project accounting, as a qualified QS he oversees the performance and operations of all our projects ensuring that the commercial aspect of the business is on target and providing the service expected of us. Offering extensive industry experience and knowledge in value engineering and cost saving, Dan has a very hands-on involvement in the concept phase of many projects that we are involved in.
With 30+ years of experience in the joinery industry, James started as a traditional apprentice joiner, gathering experience on-site he became our Contracts Manager about 20 years ago. His role is very active; visiting sites, liaising with project-management to ensure that programmes are kept to, checking quality, and offering technical experience and knowledge to overcome the unforeseen things that we know crop up. Together with his Contracts Managers, our labour resources are managed to suit site needs and our Health & Safety performance is monitored closely; we have the added and trusted benefit of our external HS&E consultants The Building Safety Group
